Color, at the right setting, can encourage consumers to make a purchase. In fact, color can be so powerful, it alone can amount to 85% of the reason for purchasing an item.

A good example of this is how red became one of the most popular colors of choice when it comes to fast food restaurants since it is very catchy, creates a sense of urgency, and most importantly, it increases the appetite.

Another is blue. This hue portrays trustworthiness which improves people's confidence into buying a brand's products. In fact, a study conducted revealed that a shop with blue color tends to attract more buyers as opposed to plain white.

Orange is a sunny color that you probably see during the course of your online shopping. It has that fun stress free vive.

Since color does have a real effect to one's psychology when it comes to shopping, this raises an alarm whether or not people really do make the best buying decisions. Yes, I'm referring to those shopping addicts and retail therapy shoppers. Is color being used to manipulate you into buying these stuff you don't actually need?

Of course, the incorporation of color to appeal to buyers is a marketing strategy employed in the business world. There's tough competition in this field as everyone wants to grab everyone’s attention.

Visual input is powerful because it's how the majority of people make sense of the world around. Hue affects many aspects of an individual, from mood, emotion, appetite, perception of a brand, and buying decision.

Other color plays a role too in grabbing people's attention. For instance, yellow radiates optimism and a vibrant loud color that easily catches people's eyes. Orange radiates energy and youth. Pink is particularly appealing to women, especially the younger generation. Green is associated with health and nature which makes health products legit. Violet is a color of royalty that evokes luxury and extravagance.

So, the next time you do your shopping, perhaps you'll give it a second thought whether or not you are only making that purchase because of the color that influence you.
