First of all, while it is a fact that a serving of whole egg is packed with proteins, vitamins, and nutrients, it is nonetheless a significant source of cholesterol.

If you're done your research online, you may have come across multiple articles claiming how egg is a superfood and its high cholesterol content is in fact not a health concern. Although, I have to warn to you that the egg industry funds the majority of those studies so you can expect that they'll be more partial to portray egg as a healthy food.

However, consuming egg does raise bad cholesterol in the blood, so its regular excessive consumption has the potential to translate to significant health problems down the line. The amount consumed can make all the difference between an increased predisposition to cardiovascular disease and healthy lifestyle.

Considering that egg is a rich source of protein and vitamins such as Vitamins A, D, E, choline, and lutein, it is indeed a superfood, but the fact that it is a high cholesterol food implies that precaution should be taken to avoid health repercussions.

But, how many eggs per day is considered a healthy part of the diet. While some expert say that eating one egg per day is alright, others consider 3 eggs per day as acceptable. But, of course, health status of an individual should be considered. For example, a person with a heart problem and have a high risk of suffering heart attack or stroke will definitely have to cut on cholesterol consumption.

Egg is a versatile culinary ingredient, a standard part of breakfast in many cultures, found in many recipe cookbooks, from savory dishes to desserts, even added to coffee by some folks. Pair it up with other high fat foods like sausages and bacon, and it becomes clear that it isn't just cholesterol from egg one should be warry of. It is equally important to have a wholistic approach. That is, ask yourself, are you eating other high fat and cholesterol food, and you want egg to be a regular part of your diet as well? If you ask me, that only aggravates the matter.

The debate of whether or not eggs are a healthy part of the human diet has been going on for ages. But, the answer to this question is quite tricky as nutrient intake have to be balanced with potential cholesterol risk.
