Hair Loss as a long term side effect of Covid

Hair loss (alopecia) several months after being diagnosed with Covid-19 has been a troubling concern for a good number of people. Who wouldn't be horrified to see clumps of hair being shed at any given time?

Hair loss associated with covid-19 doesn't happen right away when a person contracts the disease. In fact, it is often observed to occur 2 to 6 months from the onset of infection.

While hair loss is seen as another long-term complication of Covid, such case is not isolated to this disease. Known in the medical community as telogen effluvium, it has been observed to develop due to emotional toll and physical stress brought about by illnesses such as flu.

On a positive note, this type of hair loss lasts temporarily although recovery may take as long as 6 to 9 months. All the more reason to wear a mask.
