Depression may not always be noticeable, in fact depressed people might only show subtle signs which can often be hard to spot. So much so, that at times even the person suffering from depression may not be aware of his or her situation.


1. Do you always feel tired or have a low mood?

With depression comes a significant reduction in motivation and mood. At times, even doing the simplest of tasks may seem hard and painful. According to the NHS, if you have a low mood lasting 2 weeks or more, then it may be a sign of depression. Remember, it is normal to feel bad especially because of upsetting situations, but if the feeling of extreme sadness lingers longer than it should be, then it should sound an alarm.


2. Unable to find joy

If you find that the usual activities you find joyful in the past suddenly became dull and meaningless. Like there’s this invisible cloud that prevents you from finding happiness from the things you do in life, then, this may be another depressive symptom.


3. Anxious

Do you feel anxious most of the time even about seemingly trivial stuff or because of something you can’t put a finger on? You get easily annoyed and frustrated with unimportant things. For example, a depressed person may start crying or feel an huge amount of anxiety upon waking up in the morning for no apparent reason.


4. Social isolation

It isn’t uncommon for depressed people to shut themselves from the world. They may withdraw themselves from social gathering and isolate themselves altogether. 


5. Poor concentration and forgetfulness

Being forgetful or finding it hard to focus on seemingly mundane tasks can be hidden signs of depression. 


6. Suicidal thoughts

Those negative emotions and relentless feeling can compound and ultimately make a person think of ways of ending his or her own life is a serious sign of depression. Finding help is imperative before things escalate and get out of hand.
