Studies show that green tea prevents degeneration of cartilage and bones among people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) owing to its antioxidant content.

Green tea (Camellia sinensis) is a traditional alternative herbal remedy rich in antioxidant polyphenols, specifically catechins. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (ECGC), a kind of catechin that's protective in nature and prevents inflammation.

Green tea has a high catechin content that it can account to up to 36% of it's dry weight. Meanwhile, it's EGCG content makes up roughly up to 63% of those catechin.

Another amazing thing about EGCG is that it has a much higher antioxidant capability compared to Vitamins C and E, up to 25 to 100 times.

Since rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a lifelong autoimmune form of arthritis marked by progressive inflammation of the joint, at best, what can be done is to help manage the symptoms and prevent a flare up.
