By creating a relaxed state of mind, certain music can improve the quality of sleep. In fact, the exploitation of one's auditory faculty to induce sleepiness is proven to be effective by multiple research.

So, what kind of songs best promotes sleep? Study reveals that majority of people prefer classical pieces. A good example of classical music are compositions by Haydn and Mozart.

A feature of classical composition that sets them apart from pop songs is most of them employ musical instruments rather than vocal lyrics. This is especially helpful to induce slumber as lyrics can often arouse one's senses and engage the imagination especially when the topic of the song is relatable.

The experience of listening to classical pieces is indeed calming and unnerving, however, importance should also be placed on a people's personal preference when it comes to selecting the best music genre as a bedtime lullaby. Even when classical music is the top choice of the many, there are few who find solace in listening to other forms like rock, pop, acoustic, and jazz.
