While vaccines may be the world's only hope of ever stopping the Covid-19 pandemic and while it does offer efficacy, with the current situation that the world is facing, wearing mask and social distancing remains necessary.
First and foremost, while the covid-19 jabs does offer high rate of protection, it is by no means infallible. In fact, it has been reported that people still tests positive for covid-19 despite being fully immunized. Although in such cases, they may only have mild symptoms, if not asymptomatic.
Second, there are variants of covid-19 which evolved to be a much tougher strain in which experts believe that the current available vaccines may be ineffective.
Third, even when you are fully vaccinated against this global outbreak, there is a possibility that you might be able to transmit the infection even when asymptomatic.
Fourth, there are people who have compromised immune system such as cancer patients and HIV patients who may not be able to receive vaccine for covid-19 so we have to protect them by wearing masks.
In the end, we shouldn't be too reliant on the vaccines alone as it can pose a hazard both for us, our family, and the initiative to finally put covid-19 under control.
People should still wear their masks and practice social distancing in public as this can definitely save lives.
