Home Remedies for Dizziness

What is dizziness?

        Dizziness refers to a broad range of symptoms which includes vertigo, lightheadedness, and disequilibrium. These symptoms has something to do with impairment of sense of balance.

Vertigo is when you feel you or your surrounding is swirling even when you lay still. Note that in vertigo, you'll feel giddy or unsteady even though you are not moving. It may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Disequilibrium is the feeling that you are loosing your balance. It's associated with fall. It's not typically accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Lightheadedness (presyncope) is a feeling that you are about to loose consciousness. Note that it is not the feeling that you or your environment is spinning.

Note: Dizziness is different from syncope (fainting), which is the lost of consciousness.



What are the common causes of Dizziness?

  • You have a problem with your inner ear
  • You have a problem sith your sinus
  • You have a problem with your eyes
  • Your blood pressure could be too high or too low
  • You have a heart problem
  • Your blood sugar level is too low
  • You are anemic
  • You are dehydrated
  • You've loss too much blood
  • You have migraine attack
  • You have an anxiety attack
  • You've taken too much alcoholic drinks
  • Stroke attack



HOME REMEDIES FOR DIZZINESS

1. Ginger
        Ginger is a popular home remedy for the relief of dizziness and nausea. You can enjoy it's spicy and tangy flavor in myriad ways. Chew it fresh, cook it's root in boiling water, make it a tea, or grab a can of ginger ale.


How to make a ginger tea?

        Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 inch size ginger
  • 1 teaspoon honey or lime


        Instruction:

  1. Boil 1 cup of water
  2. Peel and finely chop a 1 inch size ginger
  3. Put ginger in the water and simmer for 15 minutes
  4. You may also add a teaspoon of honey or lime for flavor
  5. Strain, cool, sip and enjoy




2. Gingko biloba
       Gingko biloba improves blood circulation. It's available in various form - dried, capsule, fresh.


How to make ginko biloba tea

        Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon dried leaves or 5 pieces fresh ginko biloba leaves
  • 1 cup boiling water


        Preparation:

  1. Put 1 tsp or 5 pcs fresh into a mug
  2. Add 1 cup boiling water
  3. Cover with a saucer for 5-10 minutes
  4. Add honey or lime as desired
  5. Enjoy




3. Essential oils
        There are several essential oils you can use to alleviate dizziness. Put a few drops into a cotton ball and sniff it or add it to boiling water to inhale the vapor for aromatherapy. You can also use it as a topical ointment by applying 1-2 drops directly to your temple.

        Her are the essential oils you can use to relieve dizziness:

  • Peppermint oil
  • Basil oil
  • Rose oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Rosemarry oil
  • Cypress Oil




4. Coriander Seeds
        Coriander Seeds can also alleviate dizziness and nausea. It has a citrus aroma 

Preparation:

  • Soak 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds in 1 cup water overning
  • Strain and drink it the following morning




5. Avoid sudden positional change
        If your are experiencing dizziness, sit down and avoid sudden positional changes to decrease your risk of fall. Lie down for a few minutes or until the dizziness subsides.



6. Treat the underlying cause
        Dizziness may a symptom of a more serious underlying medical problem so it will be a big help to determine what's causing it.

  • If the cause id dehydration, hydrate yourselft with lots of fluids.
  • If the cause is low blood sugar, drink 1/2 cup cola, 1 tbsp sugar or hard candy.
  • Get enough sleep. Rejuvinate yourself by sleeping at least 8 hours a day.
  • If your dizziness is persistent, seek medical attention.
