Pretty Privilege: 4 Reasons People Hate it

Pretty privilege, the advantages a person gets by looking attractive, is something many people find unappealing because of multiple reasons.

1. You didn't work hard enough

First and foremost, it can be quite unjust to see someone receiving benefits for something they didn't really worked hard for. People have this internal justice system where they appreciate hard work and perseverance whilst condemning just plainly looking pretty.

However, it is also worth noting that people who look attractive is viewed by the masses in a positive way as evidenced by the likes and shares pretty people enjoy both online and in the real life.

Also, it's not their fault they are endowed with certain physical features which make them look pretty. Either way, people are still hating.

2. Beauty can downplay talent

The fact that a beautiful face can overshadow talent and creativity is another reason pretty privilege is seen in a negative way. Take for instance the case of an incredibly talented person who got turned down on a job because she looks a certain way. On the other hand, a good-looking individual got the job instead.

You see this at work in multiple areas of life. A very good example of this is the case of people who have to undergo plastic surgery just to be able to succeed in their career path. Such cases only points to the reality of life that you need more than just talent in order to progress. Seen that documentary in which a host have to undergo multiple aesthetic procedure so he can overcome both insecurity and land better hosting opportunities?

3. When the Pretty face turns out to be an idiot

Of course, being pretty doesn't mean you're dumb, but some of them are. So, when the pretty face speaks racial slurs or make a completely irrational claim, or acts inappropirately... like breaks the law. If they get away with all those bad behaviors, then pretty privilege gets tainted even more.

How can someone get away from all those nasty things by just sporting good looks, and average-looking people get roasted?

4. Insecurities

To turn the table around, having a pretty face shouldn't be reason to hate. If there's hating without reason other than someone having an attractive feature, then their might be insecurity and envy at play.

We are humans, so it goes without saying that at some point, we experience insecurity. If we're not comfortable in our skin, we turn on others and see them in a negative light.

This human behavior is well played in the social media giant Tiktok when a bunch of people united to bully a person for looking pretty on her Tiktok videos. Basically, it means that if you look pretty, you are bound to share a good portion  of hate being spewed in our world, otherwise insecurity would not have existed, and we both know this nasty feeling isn't going away any time soon.
