What is Cancer?
Under normal condition, old and worn out cell die and new healthy cells replace them. But cancer cells do not. They grow and proliferate uncontrollably. Cancer cells are abnormal and interfere with the normal functioning. They are destructive and have potential to spread to other areas of the body.
What is the difference between tumor and cancer?
A tumor is a simply a mass or a lump, which can either be cancerous or not. There are two types of tumor: benign and malignant. A benign tumor is localized to a certain area of the body. It stays there and do not spread to other areas of the body. On the other hand, a malignant tumor is what we call "CANCER." Cancer cells rapidly multiplies in number and spread to other areas of the body.
