Cosmetic is an aesthetic necessity to a majority of people. It's a big deal that there are even jobs requiring employees to wear make-up. Be it after a special occasion or a typical weekday, if you're wearing make-up, then at the end of the day, you will want it removed.

Sure, you can buy commercially available make-up remover but these typically contains a list of chemicals which can remove your face's natural protective oil leaving you with dry complexion and making you acne-prone. If you're an adventurer or someone who's simply tired of the well-worn path of using commercial make-up remover, why try something new that's natural?

Especially if you're using make-up on a regular basis, you'll want a skin-friendly inexpensive do-it-yourself alternative as part of your beauty care regimen.

Honey

Choose organic honey.

Simply put honey on your finger pad or a cotton ball then massage it gently on your face in a circular motion. Let it sit for 5 minutes before washing your face with warm water to remove deep layers of make-up.

There are tons of benefits you can get from honey. Honey acts as a natural antibacterial. It helps unclog skin pores, preventing acne. It's a natural moisturizer and exfoliant that's packed with antioxidants to give you that soft glowing skin.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is an excellent make-up remover. It's non-irritating and readily available. It can even remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner. It's a natural moisturizer which lightens wrinkles and eyebugs.

To remove your make-up using coconut oil, simply lather a small amount in a circular motion on your face using either your finger pad or a cotton ball. Gently rub on your eyelashes. Let it set for 5 minutes then pat your face with a clean wet towel. You'll notice how easy your make-up detaches from your face. Afterwards, wash your face with warm water.

If you have an oily face, it's better to use fractioned coconut oil as a natural make-up remover instead of extra virgin coconut oil. Fractioned coconut oil remains liquid at room temperature so it is better distributed on skin with a lesser tendency to clog pores.

If you don't have coconut oil available, you can substitute it with almond oil, avocado oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, or hazelnut oil.

Baking soda

Baking soda isn't just used for baking. It's a natural deodorizer, stain buster, and a natural toxic-free make-up remover! Mix equal parts of baking soda with water to form a paste. Gently massage the paste on your face and let it sit for 2 minutes. Be careful not to put the mixture into your eyes. It'll sting! Wash away with warm water.

Cucumber

Save yourself some cucumber slice because you know you'll need it before you go to bed. Gently rub a slice of cucumber on your eyes to naturally remove your make-up, then rinse it off with water.

Get 2 slices of cucumber and place it over your eyes. Let it set for 5 minutes. Cucumber is also a popular home remedy to get rid of eye puffiness and dark circles.
