Babies are adorable. You may not realize this but there are some pretty funky stuffs about them. Heck, we were all newborn once.

1. Newborn babies are nearsighted. They can only focus their eyes on objects no further than 8-12 inches. Beyond 12 inches, a newborn's vision is blurry. Newborn babies have terrible vision. It's 20/400. It isn't until 6 months that they reach a 20/20 visual acuity.

2. A newborn baby can instinctively recognize his/her mother's voice. A baby cries with the accent of his/her mother, which reveals that a baby starts to hear even while inside the womb.

3. Babies have more tastebuds than adults. That's about 30,o00 tastebuds compared to 10,000 tastebuds of adults. Despite that, they can't taste salty foods until they reached 4 months of age.

4. Babies are born with no knee caps.

5. Newborn babies can breath and swallow at the same time until they reach 7 months of age.

6. Did you know that a newborn baby's stomach is about the size of a hazelnut. That's roughly an inch long.

7. Newborn babies spent much of their time sleeping. If we sum up the total number of hours a baby spent awake for an entire 24 hours, it will only be about 6 hours a day.

8. A newborn's umbilical cord naturally detaches on it's own when the baby reaches 8 weeks old (2 months).

9. When newborn babies cry, they do not shed tears. This is because their tear duct is not yet fully developed. Babies usually start crying with tears once they reach2 weeks of age.

10. Babies are born with 200 bones. As they age, some bones fuse together, reducing it to a total of 206 bones when they reach adulthood.
