We have such a strong affinity to beauty. In it's pursuit, we come across bizarre and eyebrow-raising stuffs like snail slime.

In this blog post, we'll be looking into what makes snail slime a trend in cosmetics.

Slime -- there are people who find this stuff gross, but there are other's who sees it as an answer to aging. Snail slime's potential for skincare was discovered when people noticed that farmers who handled snails have visibly smoother hands.

In cosmetics, snail slime is called snail filtrate. It's a huge breakthrough that is incorporated in a wide array of skincare products like serum, cream, face mask, and gel.

Here are the perks of using snail filtrate infused skincare products:

8 benefits of snail slime in skincare

1. Acne

At some point in our life, most of us suffer from acne. Acne usually hits hard during teenage years, but can persists throughout adulthood. It's inevitable. Snail slime may not be the fist thing in your mind when you think of getting rid of those nasty pimples. But, give it a chance!

Snail filtrate kills bacteria that typically causes skin infection and acne. Furthermore, it removes dirt from deep in your pores which prevents clogging, another reason to expect less acne.

2. Moisturizes

Snail secretion contains hydrating compounds such as hyaluronic acid which prevents your skin from flaking and drying.

A dry cracked skin paves the way for wrinkle formation so proper skin hydration is really important.

3. Boosts collagen and elastin

Collagen and elastin makes up the youthful and rigid structure of the skin. As we age, our skin's collagen and elastin production normally decreases. Here comes snail mucus to the rescue by turning the hands of time and actually promoting the production of these essential skin component.

4. Promotes healing

Snail slime contains active substances to speed up the process of healing. If you have a bad acne outbreak, applying snail slime on your face can work miracle since it will shorten the amount of time you spend having an acne mark.

5. Fades wrinkles

Snail slime isn't a miracle in a bottle. It does it's skincare work with real science! While it can not totally get rid of age-related wrinkles, it will lighten it.

6. Prevents premature aging

Snail mucus acts as an antioxidant which fights damaging free radicals. Not only does it fades away wrinkles and age spots, continual usage can actually delay aging signs.

7. Fades age spots and skin blemishes

Snail slime is a natural exfoliant which helps clear off dead skin cell to make way for new skin cells to dominate. In the process, it gets rid of age spots and skin blemishes to give your skin an even tone.

Does this anti-wrinkling pillowcase works?

If sleeping on your face is a habit you've became so good at, you may be tempted to try these anti-wrinkling pillow. But, the question is, do they really work?

 Does this anti-wrinkling pillowcase works?
 Does this anti-wrinkling pillowcase works?

@healthbiztips by Arlene Gentallan

In pursuit of beauty, we put tons of cosmetic products on our face, trying one product after another in search of what works best for our skin. How about a pillow case?

Before we look at what makes silk pillow case awesome, let's first look into the downfall of the typical cotton pillowcase.

Night time is an important hour for skin rejuvenation since most of skin repair and cell turnover happens while we are sleeping. When you're face is pressed against a cotton or polyester pillow case, it sucks up the moisture off your face causing drying and creasing.

If you're accustomed to sleeping with your face directly pressing on your pillow, you may have noticed waking up with visible wrinkling and creasing on your face. Do this overtime and when you see those creases becoming more pronounced, you're in for some serious change.

Is beauty sleep part of your regimen?

Silk: anti-aging contender

So in exchange for the typical cotton and polyester pillow case, anti-aging pillowcase is made of silk. Silk is soft and smooth creating less friction against your face and hair, gentle on the skin, and doesn't draw away moisture from your face and hair. It prevents creasing on face and frizzy hair.

The downside of silk pillowcase is it's price. You know, when you have a lot of stuffs you need and your pillowcase costs more. But some argue that, while silk pillow case doesn't come cheap, it can last for a long time.

Is it really worth it?

There are testimonies about silk pillowcase' anti-aging benefits, but there are also those who claim that it doesn't seem to make a difference. The question of whether silk pillowcase actually works or not is yet to be put under the hands of researchers.

Copper pillowcase: the proven anti-aging

Copper pillowcase is made from copper oxide fibers. There was a study that reveals copper pillowcase can reduce fine line and wrinkles in as early as 4 weeks. The science behind this is when copper comes into contact with your face, copper ion is transferred into the upper layer of your skin ,called the epidermis, in which it helps in the formation of new skin cells.

If copper sounds like a metal, it's because it is. Traces of copper is naturally found in our skin, but as we age, it diminishes. Copper aids in the production of collagen. Copper is also essential to your brain, immune system, bones, and blood.

Here are the notorious culprits of food allergy in humans:

1. Milk

Milk allergy is the number one cause of allergy among children in the United States. While most of them outgrow milk allergy, the are cases that persists through adulthood.

Individuals allergic to milk should avoid foods containing milk such baked goodies and dairy products such as butter, cheese, ice cream, and yogurt.

Is it possible to develop allergy from breastmilk? Babies can not be allergic to breastmilk, rather, it can be caused by the mother's diet which can be passed on into the breastmilk.

Milk allergy is different from lactose intolerance. Milk allergy is caused by the hypersensitive reaction of the body's immune system while lactose intolerance is caused by the inability to digest milk sugar "lactose".

2. Eggs

Allergy to egg is the second leading cause of allergy among children in the United States. Proteins found in egg can trigger an allergic response.

Bakes goods that contain egg such as cakes and pastries are no exception and can trigger an allergic reaction to people allergic to eggs.

Be careful when receiving vaccines such as influenza (flu) vaccine which actually uses egg to make it.

3. Peanuts

Severe allergic reaction from peanut can be caused not only by eating peanuts, by also from skin contact or inhalation of peanut powder or peanut oil. Did you know that peanut is actually a legume?

How to treat food allergy?

There is no cure to illiminate food allergy. There are causes that starts during childhood, then fades as one reaches adulthood. But there are cases that persists all throughput adulthood. There are also cases of food allergy that only shows up during adulthood.

The best way to avoid an allergic reaction is to avoid eating the allergy inducing food.

The fist line of treatment to manage an allergic attack is usually the administration of a drug called epinephrine.

Are you the kind of person who would venture to eat something you are mildly allergic to for the love of that food?

You know that's not safe. Why? It doesn't mean that if a certain food produces a mild symptom on you, it wouldn't trigger a life-threatening reaction in the future. You're actually playing a dangerous game here.
